BERLIN — The city wants to explore the idea of heated streets and sidewalks in the downtown as a way to attract commercial growth. The council Monday night expressed its support for seeking a $12,000 grant to do a feasibility study looking at installing the infrastructure in the downtown to heat streets and sidewalks in the winter months. A final vote to approve an application for Community Development Block Grant Feasibility Study funds is scheduled for the Oct. 17 meeting. The $12,000 would allow the city to hire the technical assistance needed to determine the viability of the project.
