Norman J. Simard, 84, formerly of Berlin, N.H., passed away on Sunday June 23, 2019, at his home in Kissimmee, Fla. He was born in Berlin on July 26, 1934, the son of the late Arsene E. and Florida (Dumais) Simard and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1954 and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Norman had been employed by Brown Company and Granite State Rubber Company before becoming a police officer for the City of Berlin, retiring in 1987. After his retirement, he worked for Rockingham Electric for 10 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, the Marie Riviere Association, and the Holy Name Society. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Life Member of the N.H. Police Association. He devoted his retired life to taking care of his wife, Doris, who had been paralyzed for 20 years. He was very proud of his grandchildren and was close with all of them.

Family includes his children Maurice Simard and wife Melanie Meeker of Kingston, Mass. and Roland Simard and wife Clemence of Shelburne, N.H. and Diane Drew and husband Scott of Intervale, N.H.; grandchildren Jill Barber, Amy Tremblay, Andrew Simard, Michelle Simard, Nathan Simard and Adam Simard; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Doris S. (Bergeron) Simard and his brother Reverend Robert Simard.
