CHARLESTON S.C. — The Medical University of South Carolina’s Department of Surgery welcomes back Dr. Ryan W. King, M.D., to the Division of Vascular Surgery. A graduate of the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency Program in 2022, King returns to Charleston, S.C., after serving as an attending vascular surgeon at the University of Kentucky Healthcare for the past three years.

Originally from Gorham, King’s journey into medicine began in an unexpected way — through his time as a junior wakeboarder on the Pro Wakeboard Tour. After sustaining injuries that required surgical care, he developed a deep appreciation for the field that ultimately led him to become a surgeon himself.
