In celebration of Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4-10). Firefighter Derek Palmieri read to the kids at the Berlin Public Library. He showed them how he puts on his uniform and the equipment he carries to protect himself while fighting fires. After Story time, the kids walked across the street to the fire station to explore the inside of a firetruck, how to use the jaws of life, and received goodies. (COURTESY PHOTOS)
