Armand P. "Gid" Vachon

Armand P. "Gid" Vachon, 91, of Berlin, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 7, 2015 with his family by his side. Mr. Vachon was born in Berlin on January 18, 1924 a son of the late Gedeon and Cecile (Laflamme) Vachon, he was a lifelong resident of Berlin, graduating from Berlin High School in 1944 and he served in the U.S Army Air Corps during WWII, serving in the South Pacific, Tinian Island and Saipan Island. Gid worked for Berlin Public Schools for 43 years and was also a Bartender on Saturdays at the F.O.E. in Berlin for 57 years. He was a member of St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the White Mountain Post 2520 VFW.

He is survived by his wife Virginia (Hamlin) Vachon of Berlin, two sons, Keven Vachon and his wife Claire of Wayne, Maine and Steven Vachon of Brunswick, Maine, two daughters Ellen Berntsen and her husband Butch of Milan and Susan DeBlois and her husband Edward of Milan, eight grandchildren; Aaron Vachon and his wife Pam, Jonathan Vachon and his wife Kayla, Kelsey Vachon, Brooke Hansen and her husband Karl, Brett Losier, Dana Deblois and his wife Melissa, Darci Brochu and her husband Ben and Kara Vachon; 14 grandchildren, Justin Vachon, Andrew Vachon, Zachery Hansen, Lia Hansen, Ava Hansen, Hayden Losier, Callie DeBlois, Molly DeBlois, Aubria Brochu, Landon Brochu, Amelia Brochu, Lucy Vachon, Abraham Vachon and Eliza Vachon; two step great grandchildren Jayden Baillargeon and Daven Baillargeon; one brother Raymond Vachon of Tewksbury, Mass.; two sisters, Doris Hiscock of Arlington, Mass. and Pauline Gemmiti of Berlin; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Albert Vachon and Roland Vachon, two sisters Annette Tardiff and Priscilla Howe.
