BERLIN — The Northeast Credit Union is getting a new name and a new look. The 87-year-old financial nonprofit will be known as Lighthouse Credit Union with its new logo reflecting the guiding strength of a lighthouse to travelers in concerning situations.

The rebrand is the first in its history, said Diane Carragher, director of public relations for Northeast Credit Union. The company dates to 1936 when it was formed as a credit union at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Today, there are branch offices in New Hampshire and Maine. Locally, it has an office in Berlin, at 730 Main St., and in Conway, at 199 White Mountain Highway. A former branch office in Gorham is no longer open, the website shows, though an ATM may be at the 355 Main St. location.
