During the COVID-19 pandemic, many workers left the state’s labor force as business closures made many temporarily unemployed, while others may have retired earlier than anticipated or shifted from paid work to caring for family members.

In addition, longstanding symptoms resulting from initial COVID-19 infections and Post-Acute COVID-19, more commonly known as “long-COVID,” may have kept several thousand Granite Staters from returning to work.
