BERLIN — St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts will be hosting a performance by the students of Miss Heather’s Dance Company on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. The performance is a spoof on how the public views the dance community based on reality television. The performance will showcase the talent of area dance students and incorporate comedy into the jazz, ballet, tap, hip-hop and contemporary dance styles using the musical selections of Frank Sinatra, Swan Lank and a variety of contemporary pieces.
Dance Instructor, Heather Vashaw, began dancing at the age of three. She studied at Cooper Dancer Studio which later became The Emmanuel School of Dance and is now under her direction under the new title, Miss Heather’s Dance Company. Vashaw was classical trained in ballet, tap and jazz. As an older teen and into adulthood, Vashaw trained in Contemporary and Hip-Hop and has studied both African Jazz and Bollywood.
