“The 1,120-acre Rumford Whitecap Mountain Preserve in Rumford, Maine, is the signature conservation property of the Mahoosuc Land Trust.” So says the AMC Maine Mountain Guide.

I was aware of this 2,214-foot mountain with a long bare ridge of granite and 360-degree views. Many years ago, I led kids up there from Spruce Mountain Camp in nearby Bryant Pond, Maine.
