During the right-leaning, Augusta-based radio show WVOM last Monday, Mary Mayhew, one of the GOP candidates for Maine governor, likened the citizens' initiative seeking to guarantee home-care for seniors and individuals with disabilities to an attack on rich Mainers.

“Does this really look more like an attack on the more affluent, every time the state needs a little more money for some other project that that’s where we turn to to tap for some source of funds?” asked WVOM guest host Tom Hicks, an accountant and president of J.T. Hicks and Company.

“I completely agree. This is income redistribution,” replied Mayhew on the show.
