Roots of Facial Hair Festival tangled in Maine winter

 

It began with a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad case of cabin fever fueled by the soul-crushing winter of 2008, when the only thing dropping faster than the mercury was the global economy.

That’s when brothers Nick and Zeke Callanan produced the first Stache Pag at Flask Lounge, recalling that the long winter and excessive cabin fever gave birth “to the ridiculous idea of a moustache pageant.”
