For many Maine-based producers and restaurateurs, the month of October has been associated with Maine’s largest food festival, Harvest on the Harbor since 2007. Aiming to create a chance for attendees to meet many of the hardworking folks who have helped gain national acclaim for the Portland dining scene, Harvest on the Harbor — locally owned and produced by S&G LLC partners Stefanie Manning and Gillian and Jim Britt of gBritt PR — brings five days worth of foodie-centric events to the waterfront. Ticket prices aren’t exactly what we would call affordable, but you can feel good about the fact that a portion of sales will be donated to the Aquaculture Association, Maine Farmland Trust and the Southern Maine Community College Culinary Program — all local nonprofits.

Here’s a quick overview of six events — all available à la carte — worth checking out at this year’s Harvest on the Harbor.
