It was a busy week highlighted by the holiday weekend that had “fireworks” of all kinds going off at Bridgton Highlands Country Club. Near perfect summer weather and ideal course conditions greeted players who were met with the now annual challenge of speedy “greens” and increasingly treacherous “pin-placements.” I was “good” for a “four-putt” myself on #8 and I can verify that I was not alone.
Of course, rather than brood about it, the solution is to go work on the “putting” as much (or more) as pounding “drivers” down at the range. Better yet, see the “Boswell Boys” or Dan Cahill for a quick lesson. When you’re not at the Highlands, local entrepreneur and golf enthusiast Rob Viventi has added a new practice area to the Mountain Range Golf with a very reasonable membership that includes an equally “slick” putting surface to get you ready for whatever Head Pro John Boswell and Superintendent George Thomas and crew have in store for you at BHCC.
