Bruce Owen Davis of Bridgton, died at home on October 18, 2026, at age 91, after several days filled with family visits. He left this life on his own terms; “The Big Bru” had asked a great deal of his body over the course of a full and well-lived life and it owed him nothing more.
Bruce was born on May 24, 1935, in Lynn, Mass., and grew up in Saugus. He was the son of Theodora “Teddy” and Ashton Davis and the brother of Jean Joubert, who predeceased him. He attended Saugus High School and went on to Northeastern University in Boston, where he met Carol Johnston, the spirited young woman from Monroe, N.Y., who would become his college sweetheart. Both graduated in 1958, and on July 5th of that year Bruce and Carol were married. Although he may not have said so directly, his family knew he regarded their wedding day as the greatest day of his life.
