Freedom of speech is a protected constitutional right in the United States of America. Arresting a person for public speech and debate will get the town and police in an awful lot of trouble. Police officers cannot act "under color of law" to deprive an individual of rights secured by the Constitution. Be very careful town employees because t's a Free country with protected constitutional freedom of speech rights - whether you like the speech or not.
