FRYEBURG — For the first time in 73 years, the Fryeburg New Church will not have a booth at Fryeburg Fair. An aging congregation and increased demands of running the booth were cited as the reasons by Susan Wheaton Logan, chair of the New Church Board of Trustees. The church is putting together a commemorative photo book of the booth’s history at Fryeburg Fair through the years and is seeking photos from the community.‍ ‍

“Letting go of our booth at the Fair was a significant and emotional decision for us all, especially those of us who grew up in the church and for whom ‘working at the Fair’ was an annual Fall tradition,” said Logan. “But 73 years was a good run. We’re grateful for our years of serving up good, home-cooked meals — and pies! — at the Fair, and for the community’s support through the years.”
