To The Editor:

Two-hundred and fifty years ago, the Democrat South was authoritarian and racist, they believed the elites should control government. The South’s limitation on equal rights (slavery) was erased by the Civil War waged by a Republican president. In spite of losing the war, the 13th (Abolition of Slavery), 14th (Citizenship and Equal Protection), and 15th (Voting Rights) Amendments, Democrats couldn’t come to grips with Blacks as equal citizens.
