Rufus Porter Museum of Art and Ingenuity (RPM) Curator Jessie Burchett and Summer Intern Hanna McKellar on Thursday, Oct. 1 traveled to Reading, Mass., to collaborate with conservators David Ottinger and Wenda Kochanowski at the historic Parker House.

During the visit, Jessie and Hanna spent the day carefully peeling layers of contact paper from the staircase walls — uncovering previously undocumented murals that display key motifs characteristic of Rufus Porter’s work in the 1830s.
