HARRISON — According to the USDA, three-fourths of the world’s flowering plants and about 35 percent of the world’s food crops depend on animal pollinators to reproduce. Bees, butterflies and moths, birds and bats, and beetles and other insects require specific plants to provide the food they need in order to survive and pollinate the food we need.

Harrison Village Library will host an informational talk by Lourdes Maria Engel, University of Maine Master Gardener Volunteer, Oxford County Cooperative Extension, and a certified Pollinator Gardener, on the University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s Pollinator Garden Certification, with tips for creating your own pollinator-friendly garden, on Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m. This program is free and open to the public; please contact the library at (207) 583-2970 with any questions.
