STACKING TIME — Volunteers stack wood at the Lake Region Wood Bank, located across the street from the First Church on South High Street in Bridgton.

Howdy neighbor!

If you’ve had the pleasure of a trip down South High Street in the past few weeks, besides all the rapidly changing fall foliage you’ll perhaps have noticed another herald of the season in the form of many cords of firewood being diligently split up and racked away. But unlike the other typical signs of autumn in Maine, this particular display is new to town; I speak of course of the new Lake Region Wood Bank location, graciously provided by the First Congregational Church in their excess parking lot at the head of Church Street.
