Two Living Legends of Bluegrass at SMAC

BROWNFIELD — There are great musicians, and then there are the artists who redefine what is possible on their instruments. The Stone Mountain Arts Center welcomes two of the finest acoustic musicians in the world when Noam Pikelny and Stuart Duncan take the stage together for an extraordinary evening of music on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Noam Pikelny has long been recognized as the premier banjo player of his generation. Pikelny was born in Chicago, Ill. and raised in nearby Skokie. He started playing the banjo when he was eight years old. As a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning Punch Brothers, Pikelny has continually expanded the possibilities of the five-string banjo with breathtaking technique, musical imagination, and fearless creativity. A three-time Grammy nominee, recipient of the inaugural Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass, two-time International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year, and a 2025 inductee into the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame, Pikelny has become one of the most influential voices in modern acoustic music.
