Lake Region Community Theatre sets the stage for a laugh-out-loud musical comedy that’s all about friendship, female empowerment, and fighting the system — 9 to 5: The Musical opens this Friday, Aug. 1, at Lake Region High school.

Set in the late 1970s, the show follows three wildly different working women — Violet Newstead, a savvy office manager; Doralee Rhodes, a sweet but underestimated secretary with country charm; and Judy Bernly, a newly single newcomer to the workforce. Together, they take on their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical boss, Franklin Hart Jr., in a series of bold and hilarious twists that ultimately turn the workplace upside down.
