BERLIN — School bus drivers who drop off and pick up students near the city’s elementary school can expect to see new signage delineating where cars and trucks cannot park.

When residents who live near the school on State Street leave their motor vehicles at nearby High and Park streets, the line-of-sight bus drivers use to safely transport students is blocked. When motor vehicles are parked on all corners near High and Park streets, it makes it difficult, a Milan Bus Company driver wrote, for the bus driver to navigate coming out of Park Street and being able to see vehicular traffic coming down High Street. Two specific residences were cited in the report where cars or trucks are parked close to the corner and block bus drivers’ views. The neighborhood is densely settled.
