There are lots of end-of-summer events taking place in the North Country including Gorham’s co-ed softball tournament, the North Country Men’s Basketball League’s playoffs, activity on the Gorham Common and fall sports pre-season practices in Berlin and Gorham beginning next Monday (Aug. 19).

Gorham Middle High School sports

Bill Goodrich, Gorham Middle High School athletic director, shared the following schedule for fall sports, all of which start Aug. 19, unless otherwise noted:

Boys middle school soccer, coached by Matt Saladino and Craig Langlois, meets 9-11 a.m. at Libby Field.

Boys junior varsity and varsity soccer, coached by Tina Binette and Nancy Gordan meets 5-7 p.m. at Libby Field.

Boys and girls cross country, coached by Rob Hamel, meets 7:30-9 a.m.; meet in front of Gorham Middle High School.

Middle school girls soccer, coached by Tony Demers, begins on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. at Gorham Common

Girls junior varsity and varsity soccer, coached by Chris Partenope, has two sessions, 7-8:30 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.

In addition, all athletes must have passed a current physical exam and completed concussion testing within the past two years. All must attend the preseason mandatory Life of a Husky policy meeting, accompanied by a parent or guardian, on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Gorham Middle High School cafeteria.

Berlin High School sports

Craig Melanson, Berlin High School athletic director shared the following schedule for fall sports, begining Aug. 19.

Cross country, Coach Bob Lord, 9 a.m. at Gaydo Field (the Berlin High School track). Athletes are asked to bring running shoes (not everyday sneakers) and water.

Field hockey, Coaches Nicole Arguin and Marisa Lemoine, 7-11 a.m. at Memorial Field. Athletes should bring a field hockey stick, shin guards, cleats, mouth guard, sneakers, healthy snacks, water, two extra pairs of socks and goggles (with model No. ASTM 2713 stamped on them to be legal).

Girls soccer, Coaches Alan Woodward & Andy Rancloes, 7-10:30 a.m. at the White Mountains Community College. Please bring cleats, shin pads, mouth guard, sneakers, healthy snacks and water.

Boys soccer, Coach Tony Valliere, 7-11 a.m. at Community Field. Please bring cleats, shin pads, mouth guard, sneakers, extra socks, healthy snacks and water.

Parents and athletes meeting

There will be a fall sports parent/athlete informational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the Berlin Middle/High School gymnasium starting at 6 p.m. for high school athletes and parents. It is important for parents and athletes to attend to review the policies and procedures for high school sports.
