FRANCONIA — The New England Ski Museum Board of Directors this winter voted to honor Dr. E. John B. Allen as the recipient of the 2023 Spirit of Skiing Award. A reception to celebrate Allen’s award is held Jan. 19 at Cannon Mountain’s Franconia Ski Club Competition Center.

Allen, of Rumney, was hailed as the pre-eminent historian of skiing and a leader across the world in understanding the economy and culture of skiing and snowsports by ESM Executive Director Tim Whiton.
