To the editor:

In a recent letter, Mr. Umiker claims U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan's plan to suspend gas tax is common sense. The Biden administration with the support of Hassan created this economy-killing problem by drastically changing U.S. energy policies that got us to energy independence for the first time in decades.

When Ron says Biden and Hassan "drastically changed U.S. energy policies," no one knows what he is talking about. Neither does he. Because the energy policy part of the Build Back Better plan is still stuck in the senate. Moreover, the U.S. economy has picked up to the level it was before the pandemic with the lowest unemployment rate in history and the highest wage growth in 50 years. Higher gas and food prices, as economists point out, will subside once the supply chain backup due to the global economic recovery levels out. (Funny how Ron thinks Maggie Hassan has affected the price of gas and food in the whole world. She must be really powerful!) As they say, LOL!
