People are always saying, “You’ve gone too far”, when it really is just the opposite. We don’t go far enough. Let’s quit tiptoeing around and implement Nike’s “Just Do It “ philosophy. Here are a few examples where it applies.
New Hampshire’s Constitution guarantees the Department of Transportation all of our gas tax revenue and the federal government gives tens of millions of dollars more, so that DOT need not rely on some silly old legislature to allocate it funds. When the voters of Conway vote overwhelmingly against widening Route 16 and those pesky Executive Councilors back it up, Commissioner Murray doesn’t say the people have spoken and we’ll get to work on the permits. Nope – she’s gonna take her ball and go home. We’re not gonna get any road unless we do it her way. When the people of Madison voted unanimously against routing Route 16 traffic through the middle of that town, DOT placed the project right onto the 10 year plan. Blast Sawyer’s rock to make Route 302 more scenic? Why not? Who cares what the Bartlett selectmen think?
