CONCORD — A bill sponsored by Coos County state representatives recognizing the sacrifice of families, and particularly fathers, who lose a military son or daughter killed while on active duty with a Gold Star license plate is moving closer to passage. A Gold Star mother's license plate already exists in New Hampshire.

State Rep. Michael Murphy (R-Gorham) is the prime sponsor of the legislation, House Bill 1078, which was introduced in January. Other sponsors are Rep. Arnie Davis (R-Milan), Rep. Lori Korzen (R-Berlin), Rep. Michael Moffett (R-Loudon), Rep. Mike Ouellet (R-Colebrook) and state Sen. David Rochefort (R-Littleton).
