Dummer asks for leniency in Letarte sentencing

Current and former Dummer selectmen attended the sentencing hearing in Grafton Superior Court Friday for former Town Clerk/Administrator Mariann Letarte. Current Selectman David Dubey read a statement on behalf of the town asking that Letarte be required to make full restitution but also asking for leniency in sentencing. Letarte pleaded guilty to 25 counts but sentencing was delayed to allow for a pre-sentence investigation. HAVERHILL — The town of Dummer pleaded for leniency for its former town clerk/administrator Friday even as Mariann Letarte pleaded guilty to charges that she stole $147,000 from the town over a five-year period.

After a lengthy hearing in Grafton Superior Court, Superior Court Justice Lawrence MacLeod Jr., decided to order a pre-sentencing investigation by the N.H. Department of Probation before deciding on a sentence.
