Sen. Bennet talks education in Gorham

Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bennet made a stop in Gorham on Saturday morning as part of his 10-week barnstorming blitz through the state. Joining him are Kathleen Kelley and Sarah Clemmitt, both of Randolph. It was a reunion of sorts for Bennet and Clemmitt, who were old classmates. (BARBARA TETREAULT PHOTO)

GORHAM —Presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) announced last Friday he plans to barnstorm the state before the February primary, holding 50 town halls in 10 weeks.

One of the first on the list was a stop Saturday morning at the Medallion Opera House in Gorham. It will probably be one of the smallest of his events with only two voters showing up. Bennet seemed unfazed by the light turnout especially since he instantly recognized one as an old grade-school classmate, Sarah Clemmitt.
