The city council Monday night voted it wants a full-time city comptroller and instructed City Manager Patrick MacQueen to develop a job description for the position.

Comptroller Blandine Shallow was one of three city officials who retired last year to take advantage of a medical subsidy the N.H. Retirement System has since phased out. All three, Shallow, Assistant Superintendent Marion Huntley, and Police Chief Peter Morency, retained their positions as part-time employees.
