The Coos County Commissioners are proposing the county this fall take a look at the long-term future of its two nursing homes.

The catalyst for the commission’s recommendation were the new nursing home Medicaid rates that took effect July 1. The daily rate for both facilities dropped $2.14 per patient. Berlin’s daily rate is now $134.71 while the rate at West Stewartstown is $139.23. For the remaining six months of this budget year, the county will lose about $60,000 in revenue.
