Candidate Profile: Michael Waddell

1) Please provide some basic background information such as education, work experience, previous public service, etc.

My name is Michael Waddell and I'm running for the position of Gorham Selectman. I came to Gorham in August of 1974 while hiking south on the Appalachian Trail. A brief stopover at Mrs. Stinson's boarding house was my introduction to our town. A lot has changed over the past 41 years. What hasn't changed is that it has always been a great place to live. Over the years I've been employed by a variety of employers. First, was the Appalachian Mountain Club 1974-1984 starting as a volunteer and rising to construction manager and again from 1989 to 1991 as huts manager. From 1993 to 1996 and from 2012 to 2013 I was employed by George Sansoucy Engineers doing the listing of utility and special purpose properties. I have also been employed as a project construction manager for Shearwater Design, Doug George Homes and the town of Gorham on the Town Hall Project. In between, or in some cases concurrently, I have been and continue to be a self-employed contractor.
