The federal Bureau of Prisons received over 240 comments on its draft environmental impact statement proposing to build a 1,230 bed medium security prison off the East Milan Road near the state prison. A quick review found most comments supportive of constructing a federal prison here.

“That’s a good number of comments,” said Issac Gaston, site selection specialist with the bureau. “The community is definitely involved here,” he said.
