In a 4-3 vote, the Gorham Budget Committee has recommended the town's proposed 2009 budget be approved.

The proposed 3.2 percent wage increase for town employees was at the center of discussion leading to the narrow vote margin. Tuesday night, the budget committee held a public hearing and then voted whether or not to recommend budget items, capital reserve items and special warrant articles.
