GORHAM — Rep. William Hatch resigned his seat Monday, reporting that he has sold his house in Gorham and is moving out of his district. He said he has enjoyed his 17 years in the New Hampshire legislature and the support of his constituents but needs to move closer to medical facilities as he continues to deal with lingering war injuries he received in Vietnam.

“ It has been an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Gorham and surrounding communities for the past seventeen years,” he wrote in his resignation letter.

Sigh of relief. Thank you for your military and public service, but hanging up your keys and keeping our roads safe is also a great service to the community.
