GORHAM — Incumbent Republican Coos District 6 state Rep. Michael Murphy is running unopposed in the Nov. 5 election. Randolph resident Maggie Baker, a Democrat challenging Murphy, did not pursue her candidacy. Her name remains on the sample ballot posted online at the town of Gorham's official website.

Murphy, a Republican first-term representative and Gorham native, was a first-time political candidate on Jan. 23, when he won the Coos District 6 race. He defeated former state Rep. Edith Tucker, a Democrat and Randolph resident. A special election was held on the day of the presidential primary to fill the seat vacated by William Hatch, a Democrat from Gorham. Hatch resigned his seat for health reasons.
