Obituary: Bruce Joseph Stephenson

Bruce Joseph Stephenson, of Edgewater, Fla., passed away at home, with his family by his side on July 18, 2020, after a long illness. Bruce was born in Berlin, N.H. in 1954, to Harry and Marie Stephenson. His family lived in Gorham N.H., Shelburne N.H., and in 1970, moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine, where he graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School. Living on the coast, he acquired a passion for scuba diving and he attended several diving schools, achieving the level of Master Diver.

Bruce was an avid motorcyclist and loved Harleys. While living in Gorham in the mid-1970s and hanging around at Mel’s Choppers, he was introduced to the Road Kings Motorcycle Club and became a lifelong member, officer and President. In 1987, Bruce bought his Softail and in 1988 rode cross country meeting other members of clubs in California and rode back stopping in Sturgis where other members had arrived. Bruce rode back east with members which ended two months on the road and was the basis for many stories over the years. Motorcycles were in his blood.
