Recreation hockey development: Low-key, in-house league will resume practices at the Notre Dame Arena on Saturday, Dec. 7, Saturdays and Sundays for any boy or girl ages 5-15. No extensive traveling. This is a great program for skaters to try out hockey. Children should be OK with skating; this program is to develop hockey skills. The cost is $200 for the season. Register at the Berlin Recreation Center. Volunteer coaches or relatives who wish to get on the ice with their children are welcome.

Third to sixth grade ski and snowboard program: Register now at the Berlin Recreation Center until Dec. 10 for the 2020 season of ski and snowboard lessons with Wildcat instructors. Third grade students must ski; Wildcat does not offer snowboard instruction for third graders. This is a six-week program. The cost is a $100 lesson fee, and if equipment is needed, an additional $50, payable at Berlin Recreation. Equipment excludes helmet, which can be rented at Wildcat for $25 for the six-week program or $5 weekly fee payable to Wildcat. Since students will be released early from school they must be in good standing — grades, behavior, attendance — in order to qualify. Third and fourth grades will attend on Fridays starting Jan. 10; fifth and sixth grades will attend on Thursdays starting Jan. 9.
