INTERVALE — Believe in Books Youth Theatre will present its fifth production, "Disney’s Aladdin Jr." this fall.

The Broadway hit will debut in late October but first, auditions begin next week at the Theater in the Wood.

Believe in Books Youth Theatre has been encouraging and engaging children from the Mount Washington Valley into the art of storytelling during the past two years and through four productions.

Continuing the tradition, the fifth production from Believe in Books Youth Theatre, directed by Nate Sawyer, will inspire young performers to be “one jump ahead."

"Disney’s Aladdin Jr." is based on the 1992 Academy Award-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show.

Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.

With expanded characters, new songs and more thrills, this new adaptation of the beloved story will open up “a whole new world” for young performers.

Aspiring actors and actresses aged of 7 to 18 are encouraged to schedule an audition for either Tuesday, Sept. 3 or Wednesday, Sept. 4, both at 6 p.m., at the Theater in the Wood.

To schedule an audition, performers are to call Believe in Books Literacy Foundation at (603) 356-9980 with their name and age. Any questions regarding rehearsals or the performances can be emailed to Sawyer at

The Believe in Books Youth Theatre is a part of the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation, which is a charitable 501 (c) (3) non-profit with a mission to advance healthy development of young minds through literacy programs that encourage early reading, imagination and physical activity.
