BERLIN — It’s almost here — the semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary, of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Some of us reading this have been here before to celebrate a major U.S. anniversary, namely, the nation’s bicentennial in 1976.

Memories of the events leading up to and on the day of the 200-year birthday of America remain strong among Berlin Sun readers and many responded to our Facebook request to share memories of that day.
