BERLIN — It’s been 13 years since former Berlin resident James Cowan Jr. visited the city. Now, he is back to reach out to the community with a planned walk in support for those who have lost friends and family to substance misuse or for those for whom sobriety is a day-by-day challenge.

A walk for recovery is set for Sunday, Oct. 19, from noon to 3 p.m. The parade or march route is from the Twelfth Street bridge, along the Riverwalk to Bridge Street.
