The event took place, as it does every year, at the Little People Pond on Jericho Road at the rear of the former Bass Shoe. AVFG Director Bob Rodrigue announced the cast off at 9 a.m. and it wasn’t long before the first of the many trout were being reeled in around the pond. During the derby, a drawing took place and many of the kids went home with either a new fishing pole or a tackle box or other fishing tackle. This annual derby is open to kids only for ages 12 and under and they are allowed three fish per day. Many went home with their catch.
The directors of the AVF&G thanked all the kids and especially the parents who brought a child fishing for the day. The pond is now open for the season and you can take your child fishing any time. The association asks that the adults follow the rules as it’s a kids pond only. They also request that what you take to the pond that you also carry it out back with you. Any questions on the Little People Pond may be directed to any AVF& G director or to Mitch Dumont at 752-2303.
