Rick Bennett Tuesday announced his candidacy for governor of Maine. A respected legislator and business leader, he will run as an independent.
“I’m running for governor because I am bullish on Maine’s future — a future we can build together,” State Senator Bennett, 62, said in his announcement. “A future where young families can stay and thrive — because housing is affordable, and childcare is available. Where our friends and neighbors aren’t driven out by rising property taxes. Where small businesses grow, and the workforce is strong enough to meet the demand. Where we protect our natural resources, support our traditional industries, and invest in innovation and the jobs of tomorrow. Where our rural communities and our urban centers are both vibrant and strong. Where the government earns back your trust—by being honest, effective, and accountable.”
