To The Editor:

This January marks the 50th anniversary of a landmark Supreme Court decision that began the unraveling of true democracy in the United States. The 1976 case of Buckley vs. Valeo opened the floodgates to unlimited political spending. Now a handful of wealthy interests overwhelm the voices of millions, putting the core promise of our republic at risk.
