As a young child, I attended Cub Scout and Boy Scout meetings because my brother was a member of each group, and my mother was a leader of the groups. At the appropriate age, I became a Brownie scout and then a Girl Scout. One of the results is that the motto, “Be Prepared” is permanently embedded in my memory.
This has resulted in my having a very messy car this spring. As I want to be prepared for weather predictions, I have an overshirt, sweatshirt, a sweater, a light jacket, a heavier jacket, a rain jacket, an umbrella, an insect repellent hat, and gloves of various kinds in my car. Unfortunately, I think that my rain jacket has been worn more this spring 2025 than in prior years. Due to the rain, I have spent much more time watching the weeds grow tall from inside my home, and my list of gardening tasks just keeps getting longer. I think that by the time I get to the end of my list, I will have to add a winter coat to my “Be Prepared” clothing in my car.
