CONWAY, N.H. — The recent death of musical icon Dolly Parton has inspired a group of top Mount Washington Valley performers to create “Fly Butterfly,” a tribute to her many contributions to popular music. The performance, originally scheduled for the Majestic Cafe in Conway Village, sold out in two days. It will now take place in the 250-seat Majestic Theatre, on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
“Fly Butterfly” will include many of Dolly’s biggest hits: 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, Coat of Many Colors, and of course Jolene. Appearing as Dolly, in full costume, is Mount Washington Valley vocalist and actor Teresa Dyer, who blends voice, acting and performance skills to create memorable characters on stage. She has previously appeared as Linda Ronstadt and in a Queens of Country Tribute. Dyer is also lead singer for the Wildflowers, which has brought country-flavored performances to venues across the Valley.
