LANCASTER — Four-year-old Becca Lewis of Milan participated in the Equestrian Show at the Lancaster Fair.

Lewis finished first in the leadliner halter, fifth in the color class and second in the youth stewardship class competitions. Great job, Becca!

After speaking to one of the head judges at the horse competition, I realized the criteria used is very extensive and depends on the age, class, size and so forth of the horse and the rider. Some of the judging is related to  the behavior of the horse while going through various commands by the ring master and/or its rider or leader, the physical appearance of the horse and personal appearance and professionalism of the rider, along with much more detailed conditions.
