GORHAM — The Gorham Huskies boys varsity soccer team started their 2024 season strong with two decisive wins. On Tuesday, Sept. 3 they played their home season opener against the Groveton Eagles.
The young Groveton team surprised the Huskies in the first five minutes of play with a run down the left side and a cross, resulting in an own goal by a Gorham defender. Despite the early setback, the Huskies quickly found their rhythm. After being fouled in the box, Jack Saladino equalized the score with a penalty kick. Isaac Langlois followed suit at the 20-minute mark with a long-range shot putting Gorham ahead. Just before the break, Emerson Cairns made a scrappy goal giving Gorham a 3-1 lead.
