To the editor:

This past week, two men in Maine froze to death outside because there was no room in shelters. Why can’t they be placed in a jail cell at night so they don’t have to try to survive winter outdoors? This is inhuman. We shelter strangers but not our own. There is no excuse — this is inhuman, and we don’t care.
